Salad Supper

In case you missed it tonight's Salad Supper was a hit! Great fellowship, great salad. Here's the recap:

Debbie Weeks taught us that one way we could "Love our neighbor as ourselves" was by reaching out to our military personnel. She said it so much better than I can but the main points were:

Training: we need to "train ourselves" and educate ourselves about the living conditions of our troops. Did you know that they have to put up with (up to) 160degree temperatures in full combat gear? wash their clothes in streams? etc
Truth: we need to bless them with the truth of the Gospel of Jesus.
Thankfulness: we need to let them know that we appreciate them.

After her inspiring speech everyone wrote a thank-you note (over 150!) and each table assembled a care package. By the end of the week we will have sent out 16 care packages! If you missed out on this evening, you can do this by yourself by going to anysoldier.com and following the direction.

Those of you that brought things to send, we had more than enough for our care packages and the excess has been passed along to some people in our congregation that have been sending these packages out for quite some time.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you all for doing this. Please keep our soldiers in your prayers.

Was gonna go, but then like you did today, I felt like I just needed to rest, stay home, and get some other things done. Sorry I missed such a special night with friends. Sounds like a blast, as usual. Thanks for helping out with it.
