That was it!!

You would think that with only 4 Resolutions this year I would be able to keep track of them better. I finally remembered the last one - reading at least one good book a month. I finished "Prodigal God" on January 31st at 11:00pm and decided to do better this month (especially since it was so darn short!). So what's my book? Good question! I read a short novel at the gym but since it took me less than 30 min to read it I don't think it can count.

Right now I am downloading "The Shack" on iTunes for about $5 or $6 and plan to listen to it before jumping in to Pilgrim's Progress since I've heard that there are some similarities. I'v read P.P. about 4 or 5 times but since I haven't looked at it since high school I think it will be valuable to go through again. Anybody read either one? Want to share some thoughts?

Since we are half way though the month this might take me more than 2 weeks. We'll see...

I've read both and personally don't think they are similar. Loved, loved pilgrims progress, won't recommend the shack.

Not a fan of The Shack, either. I haven't read PP yet... maybe after Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? (SLOCA parent book club choice- not mine!) :)

I read The Shack. I thought it brought out a few interesting ideas, but I wouldn't want anyone with a shaky/confused idea about God to read it. I think if you're firm in your faith it can challenge you to think about silly ideas you have about God. But, if you're firm in your faith, one would hope you have already done that, without a book that I thought verged a little too close to heretical. (To put it mildly.)

Haven't read The Shack myself, but haven't heard good things from people I highly respect.

o.k. I'm about 1 hr (out of 8 total) into the book and I haven't even gotten to the "heretical" parts that discuss the trinity. The writing style is so poor, the charactures so unbelievable I don't think I'm going to finish. I'm very disappointed from a literary standpoint ... don't think I'll stick it out just so I can be disappointed from a doctrinal one. Oh well.
