True Confessions

So... many of you may have suspected this for a while now and it's time to come clean. I'm ready to admit I have a drinking problem. I'm not sure when things got so out of control, I think it started after I had Zak and I needed a little something to help me through the day. Now that there are 3 of them it seems like I've been starting earlier and earlier and have to drink more just to stay sane. I am just like the drunkard in Proverbs who says "When will I wake up so I can find another drink?"

I actually got mad at Phillip for throwing out last night's leftovers, "I can still drink that!" I said.

You may judge me, you may not understand but there you go ...

And if you haven't figured out by now that I am talking about COFFEE I hope you haven't been too horrified by my confession. I decided long ago that I would rather be addicted to caffeine and be able to sleep less than 6 hrs a night than get enough sleep and not get anything done. I'm trying to cut back ... really, I can quit at any time... 3 cups a day is my new maximum ... and I'm about to grab my second cup at 9:19am. Am I the only one? What are you addicted to?

blogging and the newspaper crossword puzzle--i'm trying to wean myself from at the crossword puzzle. why can't i be addicted to something good like exercise or even better, Bible reading or prayer time? good luck cutting down the caffeine. don't make us have an intervention! :)

Well, now it's caffeine again, which makes me sad because my first detox was so horrible. I quit cold turkey October 1, 2004. It was so terrible I still remember the date. The headaches were unbelievable. I was "clean" for 2 years and 9 months and then one day I ran out of Starbucks decaf (the only kind I actually like to drink, cause I am still addicted to the taste) so I made regular. And one morning lead to another and now I have headaches again. Darn.

Novels. You may laugh, but it's actually really bad. Once I start a book I can't put it down. I don't do laundry, or any cleaning. I don't pick up the toys and I have to remind myself to pay attention to my husband. Luckily when this happens it usually only takes me 2 days to finish a book. The real problem is when I start a series!

I'm too dumb for crossword puzzles (although I would never know what a pisant was otherwise) but I could totally be addicted to reading. I just have a really hard time sitting still. I did read the last Harry Potter in a little less than a day but that was only because I was in bed in pain (wisdom teeth removal) and had my husband to take care of things.

caffeine!!! i totally new what you were talking about! me too. not coffee though. caffeine pills or soda, sometimes iced tea but i've gotten out of that habit recently. it's so bad, but yet so necessary. plus, if you keep a regular amount of caffeine in your system, you can help prevent migraines. i'm plagued with migraines and do find that this helps. so there you go. no hope for changing at this point.
