Don't hate me, I must share. Has something like this every happened to you?
Dust of Snow
by Robert Frost
The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.

yes, i'm sure something like that has happened. i enjoy poetry--i just don't read it frequently. i really used to enjoy edna st. vincet millay--ever read her stuff? and in college, i wrote a lot. it was mostly really bad stuff, but cathartic just the same.
can you explain it. i'm embarrased, but i am horrible at understanding poems and i didn't quite get this one. did a bird poop on you? What does rued mean?
NO Kate! read it again. (Rued means regretted and FYI I didn't write this Robert Frost did) Joy, I'm going to have to look up that poet, thanks for the recommendation.
Don't worry, Kate. I don't really get it either. I mean, I suppose what it's saying is that sometimes something happens to totally change your perspective...so, if you're having a bad day and then you see a beautiful sunset.
I guess I just don't understand why you wouldn't just SAY that.
Say what you mean and mean what you say. Speaking in riddles and rhymes seems like a lot of extra work to me (and leaves too much room for interpretation somtimes). :(
i love robert frost!
